February 2008
Light and shadow, and a Siberian Jay A Siberian Jay couple live their whole lives on the same forest area, unless it is cut down. Thinning of the forest is not enough to evict the Siberian Jay from its territory. On cold February days the Siberian Jay sits still for long stretches of time. The ruffled up dark plumage absorbes the sun rays thus warming the bird. By restricting its movements to a minimum the Siberian Jay saves energy.
